After the great success of his last direction in Malta – La traviata last year with Francesco Meli, Ekaterina Bakanova and Piero Terranova – Enrico Castiglione returns to Malta for his eighth opera production, directing and designing La Boheme in a new highly anticipated staging at the Aurora Theater in Gozo for the Gaulitana Festival. Enrico Castiglione begins the year dedicated to Giacomo Puccini, a composer of absolute reference for his musical theater activity, by first bringing one of his most famous works to the stage, in homage to the centenary of Puccini’s death.
In the title role, Mimì, the soprano Federica Vitali, David Junghoon as Rodolfo, Yuri Yurchuk in Marcello, Nicola Said as Musetta, Costantino Finucci in Schaunard, Romano Dal Zovo in Colline, Alessandro Busi in Benoit and Alcindoro, Stanley Joe Portelli in Parpignol , with the Gaulitana Choir and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Colin Attard. The new production, produced by the Gaulitana Festival, will be staged at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora in Gozo on Saturday 20 April 2024 at 7.30 pm and will be broadcast on Malta’s national television, like all the productions created in recent years for Malta by Enrico Castiglione , hailed by the press as “a pillar of the Gaulitana Festival staging for ten years, with eight productions under its belt since 2014, always with great success and favor with the public”.
La Bohème, a work of young people, of inspired young people full of life in the heart of the city and the thousand lights of Paris in 1830, which Enrico Castiglione tackles with carefree dynamism and tragic fatality, will be staged under the illustrious patronage of the President of the Republic of Malta. The event is supported by the Arts Council Malta in collaboration with the Ministry of Gozo and “proudly” sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute La Valletta.
